Hello Mtgcast Community, welcome to the first edition of the (insert clever article name here). The first order of business is to give all the readers a little bit of info about myself. I started playing magic around Onslaught Block, like a lot of magic players I wasn’t rules savvy. The deck I first played was an u/r counter burn deck. To win I would cast a search spell and look for Sonic Burst, discard my hand to do 20 damage. I was totally unaware that you couldn’t discard card after card to deal 4 damage each time. I got into the FNM scene around Ravnica/Kamigawa and began to learn the real rules. Now, further along my magic career consists of FNM, set releases and prereleases. I plan to go to an extended PTQ next month, which will be a first for me.
My FNM scene is around 16 people each week; the reason for this is because I live on the island of Hawaii. I live on the biggest island but sadly no the most populated. That probably explains why I haven’t been to anything bigger than FNM. For me to go to anything bigger requires money to buy a plane ticket, being only 16 I don’t readily have that amount of cash.
Now onto what I will be talking about today. For all those who played in Conflux release you got a shiny new Obelisk of Alara. If you had the luck of opening one you have probably seen the power of it. Another powerful limited card you’ve probably used or experienced is Exploding Borders. Now there are a lot of cool cards in conflux with domain, specifically I am looking at Worldly Counsel. So here is what I came up with after a bit of testing and playing around with this deck. The best part of the deck its a budget deck and pretty easy to build.
4x Farhaven Elf
4x Kitchen Finks
4x Exploding Borders
4x Wrath of God
4x Rampant Growth
2x Ajani Vengeant
2x Obelisk of Alara
2x Armillary Sphere
4x Worldly Counsel
4x Oblivion Ring
Now some card explanations
Is really really really good against any aggro deck, it gains you net 4 life and usually kills 2 creatures
Ramps your mana and can block to help you stall out the game
Ramps your mana and can win you the game
Firespout/Wrath of God
Slow down aggro
Ramps your mana
He is amazing,and wrecks face
Looking at the top 5 cards of your library is always good
Removes a bunch of stuff including pesky planeswalkers
I love the deck to death, but it defiantly dies horribly to any control deck. So go ahead and tell me what you think of the deck. Any other thoughts on my first article would be awesome. Finally you can email me at email@example.com with suggestions, thoughts, ideas or a name for my articles.
