In this very special episode of Four Guys Play Magic, we celebrate the date that should be marked on pretty much every single person’s calendar ever – that’s right, it’s Joseph’s birthday bash! His friends threw him a surprise birthday party at the end of September (that he honestly did NOT know about) under the ruse of recording our podcast at Dave’s house. We had immense amounts of fun, we drank a little (or in Dave’s case, a LOT), and after the dust settled and the cheap party favors broke, we cracked out the mic and recorded an episode. Enjoy the musings of Five Guys – that’s right, we have not one but TWO special guests this week! John rejoins us, and special guest Charles lends his Judge-in-training wisdom to our discussion on the stack and priority. For the “Let’s Play” segment, we spliced in a game recorded several weeks later, a casual 60-card free for all, which we seem to really love doing. Enjoy the show, and remember – don’t drink and drive. And seriously… f*** Saturn.
Special Note: For those of you wondering about the ostensibly offensive title of this episode, allow me to explain. At the birthday party, Apples to Apples was played which, if you listen to the end of this episode is mentioned (and Charles seriously does cheat at that game). A basic knowledge of the game will be assumed for this description. The “green apple” card, or adjective card, was “Annoying”. As the player who had pulled the green apple was reading through the “red apple”, or noun, cards, they came upon “Saturn”. As soon as they read “Saturn”, Dave’s friend Alex out of nowhere explodes, “Seriously, F*** SATURN! What’s the deal with all its rings and s***?” After about a split second of silence, the room burst into laughter. This guy Alex, who hadn’t really said much of anything for the duration of the game, just flew off the handle about Saturn for really no reason at all. To no one’s surprise, he won that round.
