This is Jason Alt — podcaster, writer and member of the MTGCast team.
MTGCast is bringing in a new management staff to run the site.
The reason for bringing in a new professional management team is to alleviate a lot of the headaches that both site administrators and podcasters were experiencing without changing anything so drastically that service would be interrupted.
We want the change to be all upside for every party involved.
The mission of MTGCast is to be the first name in podcasting by aggregating the best podcasts in one location, making it simple and painless for podcasters to post their content, and for listeners to find the casts they love and discover new ones.
It’s that simple — we want to be the best by making this the best place to host podcasts and the best place to download or listen to them. We have a lot of changes coming in the future, but a few immediate changes are already in place.
First, no more sponsorship ads at the beginning of each cast.
We have some great plans, including a discussion forum for listeners and podcasters alike. This community is one of the best segments of the Magic-playing population and the discussion is bound to be robust and interesting. This management team has a history of launching superlative discussion forums.
Casters, we’re going to give you unprecedented control over when your cast goes live. Instead of waiting for the bottleneck caused by having one overworked person list every podcast, you are going to take the reins and fill out a simple form to list the cast on the site and control when it goes live — and filling out the form won’t take you any more time than it took before to send us an e-mail.
The site is getting a facelift with a few new cosmetic changes, like a dynamic scroll bar for the latest episodes, a new, better-looking menu, more accurate tags for each cast and easier-to read-icons for each cast. It will be easier than ever to find your favorite cast quickly and find new ones you’ll love.
You’re bound to start seeing changes immediately. We are planning on hitting all of our revamp targets by November 1.
We think you’re going to like the changes. Your faith in this site is going to be restored and casts that have left the network are going to be eager to come back.
We would love to start showing you what we’re doing. Please sign up to our info newsletter so you can be on top of all of this cool stuff.
Do you have a concern that isn’t addressed here? I’m happy to field any questions you may have- you may contact me at my personal e-mail address and I will set your mind at ease.
