The events in Japan have affected the Magic world. Grand Prix Kobe, originally scheduled for shortly after the earthquake hit, was rescheduled for April. Pro Tour Nagoya, scheduled for this summer, has been publicly stated by Wizards to be continued as planned by this past week a group of Hall of Fame players from France started a Facebook group to question the wisdom of this move. Today I talk to Raphael Levy, one of the founding members, about why he’s decided not to attend at this point in time and why he thinks other players should consider not going as well.
On this week’s episode, I sit down to talk with Mike Pozsgay. Mike is a prominent player on the StarCityGames Open Series as well as playing on the Pro Tour. Recently he ran afoul of the rules and caught the Magic world off guard by getting a six month suspension for bribery. I’ll ask him what happened, what it means for his future, and what the Magic community can learn from his mistakes.
This week’s episode is the March round table. Our special guests for the week are Gavin Verhey of StarCityGames.com and Zaiem Beg of ChannelFireball.com, and along with yours truly, Bill Stark of TheStarkingtonPost.com, we cover a whole MESS of topics. Extended, spoilers from PAX East, and women in Magic are all main heading subjects, but we make sure to get distracted enough to talk Dennis Rodman, how many Goblin Guides is too many, Wall of Wood (yes Wall of Wood), and more.
On this week’s episode I sit down to chat with Ethan Fleischer. After weeks of competition, Ethan outlasted over a thousand competitors to be declared the champion of the Great Designer Search 2. For his efforts, he’ll be given an internship with Wizards of the Coast to work on designing new Magic cards. I can speak from experience, it is an awesome job and you’ll hear Ethan explain what his biggest challenges were, what he’s looking forward to, and how you can snag yourself a job at Wizards of the Coast.
Bill with a fascinating interview with a player in Egypt.
On this week’s episode of The Starkington Podcast we bring you the Wizards of the Coast Q and A from the recent Magic Cruise. That’s right, four members of Wizards of the Coast were the keynote speakers in a panel discussion onboard the ship. I was the emcee for event, and at times when the audio in the audience wasn’t loud enough, you’ll hear me do some voice over work for the questions. The gang took some tough questions on topics like the upcoming Commander product, how planeswalkers came into existence, the impact of power creep, and more.
